Louisa Kakissi is a Greek contemporary artist and an Emeritus Professor of Aesthetic and Fine Art Education at the University of Athens. She has presented 13 Solo Exhibitions and has taken part in more than 60 Group and International exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
Louisa Kakissi was born in Paris and raised in Piraeus, Greece. While still a high school student, she presented her first personal exhibition in 1966.
She studied painting in Paris where she was awarded a Diploma in Painting from the Superior National School of Fine Arts (Beaux-Arts), Diploma Licence Arts Plastiques of the University Sorbonne Paris VIII, Diploma Maitrise specialized in Aesthetics, postgraduate Diploma D.E.A., and Ph.D. – Doctorate in the Philosophy of Art, University Sorbonne Paris I. She has also studied Sculpture and Ceramics in the “Beaux Arts” and Sketching in the École de Montparnasse de la Ville de Paris.
She has worked as a Professor of Art in secondary education and a Professor of Aesthetic Education at the University of Athens and Director of the Faculty of Human Studies.
Distinctions & Organizations
Louisa Kakissi has received Honorary Distinctions in Paris (Mention Honorable from the Society of French Artists), Rome, and Athens. Her paintings are held in public and private Collections and Art Museums in Greece and abroad. Her work has been mentioned on several occasions in Greek and foreign bibliographies and also by the press, radio, and television, where she has given interviews.
