On Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 7 p.m., Louisa Kakissi’s solo painting exhibition by the theme “Figures through time” was opened in the New Wing of the Museum of Modern Greek Art of the Municipality of Rhodes.
This 13th solo exhibition of the painter includes oil paintings on canvas, in two sections: Human figures and landscapes. Works of various dimensions, representing her latest work and among them some earlier ones. Works that express deeper thoughts, feelings, truths, symbolic images and scenes in peace but also in war. Moments from our lives that pass and are lost, memories, small joys. Human figures, women, meetings, groups, couples who stayed still so nothing could happen. After the end, maybe before, but with the impossibility of action. Forms standing in time, without memory, vision or future. Like statues, motionless, on a pedestal. Landscapes frozen in time. Simple, simple and real works, without trying to impress, without flashy colors, shapes and tricks to attract the attention and admiration of the uninitiated.
